Little Women - Cabaret Theatre Company 2025

Little Women, the musical, is based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic tale of the four March sisters and follows the adventures of Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy.

Jo dreams of being a famous writer and is trying to sell her stories in New York, but the publishers are just not interested. Her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she must do better and write more from the heart. She begrudgingly takes his advice, and we go back through Jo’s life to see how she and her sisters grew up during the American Civil War and how that experience will shape her writing.

Whether you’ve read the book, seen the film or are completely new to the story, you don’t want to miss this gorgeous musical retelling of Little Women!

“Katie French acted and meant every word in ‘Somewhere That’s Green’ without any showmanship or hyperbole… It is gentle, and one of the highlights of the show”

“The most laugh out loud moments come because of the wonderfully overexaggerated acting of Ross Harris. The role of Orin is one that needs strong presence… Harris definitely brings this to the table”

“My oh my does Hilary Leam have range and soul. The voice and comic timing of Audrey II is so important to the mood of the show and Leam is spot on”

“The hapless Seymour is played by Daniel Carter with a lovely naivety that charms the audience… a thoroughly engaging character portrayal with some great vocals”

“Mr Mushnik is played with enormous conviction by Phil Simcox… With a sonorous voice and great projection, his scheming and general bad humour both amuse and appal”

“The delightful ‘Greek Chorus’ of Ronette (Andrea Osborne), Crystal (Lauren Bishop) and Chiffon (Ashleigh Dudson), are thoroughly entertaining”

“The merry murderesses and the female ensemble are athletic, gymnastic at times, and with every twist of the hand, angle of the neck or grind of the hip, create a highly polished performance”

“Sian Scattergood moves through a range of emotions, from self-pity to comedy to determination, whilst executing perfectly crisp and powerful vocals and stylised dance moves…  A class act.”

“Sara Evans-Bolger has plenty of ‘look at me’ attitude, and powerful vocals which appear effortless.  She leads the ensemble with authority, and demonstrates her dancing finesse in all numbers”

“Smoothly sauntering into his role is Duncan Leech, who captures the charm and charisma, but also the cynicism of the greedy lawyer.  Leech has great characterisation and subtlety of expression, that draws us into the world that he creates. His voice has a lovely warm tone, but also demonstrates great control and power”

“Hilary Leam approaches with exactly the right amount of ‘devil may care’ attitude… she confidently delivers with aplomb and a big vocal belt”

“The tap dancing cast has mastered timing at its best… it was done with enthusiasm, excitement and pure skill. Those dancing moved effortlessly across the floor… it was genuinely a real pleasure to watch a group of individuals smash such a hard sequence”

“One scene – “We’re in the Money” – stood out for several reasons… The choreography, staging and costumes were all incredible during this rendition because it was energetic and dazzling (the green costumes were stunning). I couldn’t take my eyes off every single movement that was happening on stage. This scene really showcased the true talents of the ensemble and Fletcher.
